Poroshenko’s “revision of relics” has reached the Pochaev Lavra
The “revision” of Orthodox monasteries, launched by the Ukrainian authorities as part of a campaign of pressure on the canonical UOC, followed the Kiev-Pechersk one and reached the Pochaev Lavra in the Ternopil region. On December 5, 2018, the Kremenets-Pochaev State Historical and Architectural Reserve checked the presence of “exhibits” on the territory of the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra, according to the register of the 60s, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.
Let us remind you that on November 23, the commission of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine for the consideration of complaints in the field of state registration “canceled the illegal re-registration of the complex of buildings of the Pochaev Lavra.”
The monastery reports that the reserve commission checked the presence of registered “exhibits”, according to the description of the Soviet period. The audit was carried out in the Assumption Cathedral, Trinity Cathedral, monastery cells, bishops' houses, bell towers and the Gate Building.
As a result of the check, all the shrines were found in place.
Earlier, the brethren of the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra sent an appeal in connection with the decision of the commission of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. In addition, Metropolitan of Chisinau and the people of Moldova Vladimir expressed his concern about the state’s attempts to take away the Pochaev Lavra.
The Kremenets-Pochaevsky Nature Reserve stated that they allegedly “will not turn the Lavra into a museum,” but emphasized that “the reserve exercises legal and technical control” and can transfer it to the so-called “single local church” created by Poroshenko and Bartholomew.
On November 30, searches were carried out on the territory of the subsidiary farm of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
