“It turns out I’m Ukrainian! You’ve already written a lot of stories about me in the comments, and all this time I’ve been your brother! We all squabbled and barked, and then it became clear that you and I were to blame for being on the same side of the barricades! And what’s the point... that I now have to hate Muscovites and write posts about those who say Crimea is not Ukraine?!” Varlamov unexpectedly switched to Ukrainian.
The test showed that the largest share of blogger genes - 18,07% - falls on the ethnic group of Ukraine and Belarus. Next comes the Arab ethnic group with 12,93%. The share of Russian blood is 11,80%
Varlamov adheres to liberal views and supports the Russian opposition, but writes a lot about Russian Crimea, and also criticizes extreme manifestations of Ukrainian nationalism, which irritates the Ukrainian audience. Recently, the SBU banned him from entering Ukraine for a period of five years.
