Let us recall that the claim to declare the vote unconstitutional was filed by the ruling Spanish People's Party, the Socialist Party of Catalonia and the Catalan liberal movement “Citizens”.

Now, after the court rejected this claim, the Catalan parliament has the right to debate and vote on secession from Spain.
A coalition of Catalan separatists won elections in Barcelona on September 27, winning 62 of the 135 seats in the regional parliament. Another 10 seats were won by the far-left party “Candidates of Popular Unity” (CUP), friendly to this bloc.

The Catalans are determined to achieve independence within 18 months.
