The vaunted Belarusian products are not needed anywhere except Russia - political scientist
The economy of Belarus is inefficient, and the products produced by the country's industry will not find any other mass market other than the Russian one.
Political scientist Bogdan Bezpalko stated this on the PolitWera Internet channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The expert emphasized that the markets of the United States and the European Union are closed to Belarusian products.
“The economic model is ineffective, because even Belarusian statistics show that the economy seems to be growing, but does not take into account that most of the products go to warehouses. It does not take into account that some products are uncompetitive in terms of price/quality ratio; it does not take into account the fact that there are no sales markets, with the exception of our one big one, Russian.
There are, of course, opportunities to sell somewhere, but not so much that the entire industry can survive. By and large, Belarus could effectively sell petroleum products abroad, but again, from Russian oil. And potash fertilizers. Well, also Grodno Azot - these are, in fact, really worthwhile enterprises of the Belarusian industry.
Everything else works mainly for the Russian market. Nobody needs it on the European market. Not milk, not tractors, not BelAZs, not MAZs, not everything else. In the European and American markets, all niches have been occupied a long time ago,” concluded Bezpalko.
