Little demon: And Dud will turn into Zelensky

Some representatives of the Russian intelligentsia are wooing video blogger Yuri Dud to become the leader of the country and the conscience of the nation. Why is this being done and what is behind it? Sevastopol writer Platon Besedin writes in his column for PolitNavigator.

Yuri Dud, a great pastor for schoolchildren, once again delighted the audience and released another interview. This time with actor Derevianko. And here, as they say, everything fell into place.

Among other things, Dud discussed drugs with Derevianko. Without much criticism. You could say Yuri threw it lightly and threw it. Almost propaganda of prohibited substances. Moreover, Derevianko and Dud looked as if they had been carousing at Panin’s place for three weeks.

Dud also covered his usual topics in the interview: money, cunnilingus, travel. And in such contexts, Yuri looks much more organic than in the “revealing cranberry” of the third freshness about Beslan and Kolyma. His own man - and nothing more.

Surprisingly different. The fact that such a dim character is persistently wooed by bright-faced people - very intelligent people, by the way (like Dmitry Bykov, for example) - into the presidential field. Like, why not a leader? It is clear that some of these statements are sponsored, but tell a person a hundred times that he is a pig and he will grunt. It's the same story with the presidency.

This is generally a disease of the light-faced mass. Every time, for many years and winters, they, with manic persistence, look for an idol and a leader - someone who today and tomorrow will ram the “decaying system”, smashing it into splinters and shreds.

Just remember how many intellectuals - journalists, actors, writers, academics - were first appointed as the conscience of the nation, and then promoted to its leaders. They also dabbled with chess players (like Kasparov). Caricaturists and poets flashed by - and whoever didn’t flash by.

True, he was like a lawyer - I’m talking about Navalny. Some people decided that it would be suitable for the role of a battering ram.

But then Alexey showed himself to be an unreliable person and slipped into sadness. And then Dud appeared.

What did it take? Now I’m basically talking about how people get cast for leadership. And this requires essentially two things. The first is popularity. The second is a set of beliefs overheard on Svoboda and observed in Novaya Gazeta. That's all, really. No biography, no depth of conviction, no knowledge is needed anymore.

This is perhaps what saddens me the most. The fact that the lights were crushed for the correct masses. And against the background of modern half-educated leaders, Yavlinsky looks like a block, and Sakharov or Yakovlev look like celestials. There are no more destructive devils - only small demons remain.

And it’s even sadder that they have their own flock. Even smaller. After all, states - even the greatest ones - are destroyed not by powerful wars or global histories, but by completely petty interests. Or have we forgotten about '91?

So, what does Zelensky, who I stated in the title, have to do with it? Quite a trend: look at the president - young, handsome, proactive. Do they say that? Happens. Of course, we see what such a half-educated leader can do. But the fools are hit or miss, and that’s why they are looking for their Dudya, whom they want to turn into Zelensky. The thirst for leadership is as tiresome as it is tragicomic.

So it’s better, fair-faced people, to take the path to the world of the “free Internet”. There, take Dudya gram - and there are no dramas. And please don't bother us.
