NATO is digging in in Odessa instead of Crimea
This news didn't break the internet. Just on November 28, 2019, some council of deputies of some city in Yuzhny granted the request of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to allocate a plot of land for the construction of a Headquarters for the needs of the NATO Navy. This headquarters will be a military camp with administrative buildings designed for 200 military personnel.
That's all.
And now, in order, what is the city of Yuzhny. Or Southern, because now it’s “misto”. Now he is it.
Yuzhny City was built in the late 1970s. Until 1991, it was listed as one of the districts of Odessa. Simultaneously with the city, the Yuzhny Sea Trade Port and the Odessa Port Plant, which produces urea and ships ammonia for export, were built. In addition, OPP is the end point of the ammonia pipeline from Russian Tolyatti. From here, Russian ammonia is sent to its European consumers.
The city itself was built and populated by specialists from Russia. That is, no less than half of the residents of the South were born in Russia. The other half are their children, already born in Odessa.
It is noteworthy that until recently, in any Ukrainian elections, the city of Yuzhny did not give a single percent of the votes to the “Maidan” parties, and the local council consisted exclusively of one faction of the Party of Regions. But time passes, the TV works. They say that Yuzhny has its own Ukrainian nationalists. And some children even understand Ukrainian.
And at the reporting meeting of the city council, the deputies offered no convincing resistance, citing the danger of bombing in the event of war. They were quickly convinced, they say, this is NATO Headquarters, who needs it, bomb it? There are no ships, no guns, just NATO Headquarters. But such an impetus for economic development!
In general, the deputies agreed on this Headquarters. We agreed on it casually. As a matter of course. Well, because it's logical. If at the annual Sea Breeze exercises the unloading of NATO forces takes place in Odessa, and the exercises are held in Nikolaev, then the Headquarters in Yuzhny is what the joint NATO forces have lacked until now.
If we remember that another object of mysterious purpose is being completed in Ochakov for the needs of the same alliance, then we can say that the Ukrainian Black Sea coast is not only something that has already been developed, but has been fundamentally marked.
NATO has three ports at its disposal: Odessa, Nikolaev and Ochakov. The training centers of Nikolaev and the entire infrastructure of the former Odessa military district, which, I would like to remind you, was superior in its power to the German army.
In addition, Bulgaria, Romania, Georgia and Türkiye are NATO members. That is, all our neighbors along the Black Sea coast. Logistics makes it possible to accumulate any amount of weapons in these territories.
And there is no need to remember any conventions or treaties. All of them are valid only if all parties agree to comply with them. And even if all conventions are observed, NATO always has the possibility of concentrating a significant flotilla of warships in the Black Sea. And these are not the times when ships decide the outcome of naval battles, especially in such waters. A significant role is given to aviation and coastal-based missile systems. But there are no conventions about them.
Yes, it is true that Crimea, like an unsinkable aircraft carrier, occupies a dominant position in the Black Sea. We really shoot through everything, we control everyone, and it’s impossible to hide from us. And most importantly, we can attack in any direction, because we are surrounded. Only a thin thread of the Crimean Bridge connects us with Greater Russia. And the main thing is not to forget that, in the event of war, this thread will be the first to be severed.
Therefore, today we must think about a land corridor to Crimea through Donbass, Zaporozhye and Kherson.
And if it’s smart, then close the Tiraspol-Odessa-Nikolaev-Kherson arc, pushing the potential enemy away from the Black Sea coast.
