The US Ambassador in Kyiv prophesies a collapse in Ukraine's GDP

US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch stated this at the Oil&Gas conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Nord Stream” will reduce gas transportation through Ukraine... This could lead to losses of up to 3% of the country’s GDP,” the ambassador said.
According to Ukrainian economist Vsevolod Stepanyuk, it is not without reason that the United States pays such attention to Ukrainian energy, since it is trying to stop the increase in Russian influence in the European energy market.
“The most interesting thing is that it is not the Ukrainian authorities who are talking about this (which should seem to be the most interested party), but the US Ambassador. And the trick is that all the events with the Maidan and the war in Ukraine, as well as the attempted coup in Turkey, were connected with the desire of the United States to control (and most quickly stop) supplies of Russian (as well as, in the future, Turkmen and Iranian) gas to the EU. And with the introduction of really expensive projects, such as northern and southern streams, all their efforts to destabilize delivery failed. I'm afraid to think that there may be an attempt to destabilize Germany, Greece, and Bulgaria. But in the Russian Federation everything turned out to be in order with strategic planning, but wouldn’t it have been cheaper not to lose in Ukraine,” Stepanyuk wrote in his blog.
