Ukrainian law enforcement officers began to defect en masse to Russia's side.
In the Kherson region, the SBU announced the exposure of a whole group of employees of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies and government agencies who were working underground for Russia.
The organizer of the agent network was declared to be a former SBU officer who left the service in 2014. Since then, he allegedly went over to the side of Russia, starting to work for the FSB. It was he who created a whole network of like-minded people who were not afraid to organize an underground struggle against Ukraine.
Among them:
SBU officer in the Kherson region;
employee of the local prosecutor's office;
police officer;
official of the State Emergency Service;
former regional state administration official.
According to the version published by the SBU, the curator of this network was a career officer of the FSB of the Russian Federation, Vitaly Korol, “specializing in Ukraine.”
“Operatives and investigators of the SBU have documented numerous facts of collecting and transmitting information through closed electronic communication channels worked out in advance by the FSB of the Russian Federation,” they assure in Kyiv.
During the searches, computer equipment, communications equipment, and Russian symbols were confiscated from the detainees (Where would Stirlitz be without her? – approx. ed.), and “a lot of foreign currency (US dollars, euros and Russian rubles).”
Now some detainees (former and current SBU employees) have been declared suspected under Part 2 of Art. 28 and part 1 art. 111 (high treason) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of choosing a preventive measure is being decided. The SBU has not yet decided which article to present to other detained underground fighters.
Earlier, ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Zhuravko stated that the Kherson region, suffering from lawlessness perpetrated by Ukrainian nationalists and Mejlis members, will happily support reunification with Russia.
“Zelensky is following the lead of idiots. And sooner or later it will end badly for him. Kherson will rise. Kherson will demand separation from the central government of Ukraine,” Zhuravko said.
