The speaker with a certificate is sure that God is helping him to split the Church
The signing of an agreement with the Patriarchate of Constantinople gives grounds for the Ukrainian authorities to count on holding a so-called unification council before the end of November.
Speaker Andrei Parubiy stated this at a meeting of the conciliation council of faction leaders and chairmen of Verkhovna Rada committees, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On Saturday, an important, historic agreement was signed between the state of Ukraine and the Ecumenical Patriarchate, which guarantees the creation of a single local Ukrainian Orthodox Church and granting it a tomos of autocephaly. With God's help, we are moving towards our age-old dream - the creation of a single local Orthodox Church.
The signed agreement gives me confidence to hope that an all-Ukrainian unification council will be held before the end of November. I am sure that no force can stop this process. I am sure that God is helping us. I sincerely thank Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew for his fatherly guardianship over the Ukrainian people and the future of our church,” Parubiy said.
As PolitNavigator reported, the Patriarchate of Constantinople declared Ukraine its canonical territory and began the process of preparing autocephaly.
