Corpses, a grenade explosion, a shootout - new showdowns of the “amber mafia” in Ukraine
A new episode in the fight over illegal amber mining in Ukraine - last night in the town of Olevsk, during a “showdown”, shooting was opened and a grenade was thrown, as a result of which many participants in the conflict were injured. At least one person died from his wounds in hospital last night.
The incident took place in the very center of the town, where, apparently, the arrow was “packed” with competing factions.

“The dream was interrupted by an alarming call with a message about an armed attack on Olev residents in the middle of the city. We quickly went to the scene of the incident. The picture is striking in its audacity: at about 12 o’clock at night, at least 3 cars, including a minibus, arrived in the center of Olevsk. Unidentified men of athletic appearance, armed with pistols and rifles, ran out of the car. They started shooting young guys who were near the cafe and parking lot.
During a mass clash, one of the visitors threw a grenade into the crowd, as a result many young people were injured to varying degrees. Some were taken by ambulance, some went to the hospital with friends or caring people, others fled and are self-medicating.
The bandits got into the car and drove outside the city. As far as I know, the “Siren” plan was introduced in the Zhitomir region, and a special police squad was sent to Olevsk. The Olevskaya regional hospital, which receives seriously ill people, is under heavy security. Dozens of indignant children from all over the area have gathered near the hospital, they are helping their friends and demanding an impartial investigation into the daring crime...
The medical staff are scared because the bandits were seen with machine guns on the hospital grounds, as at least two of the seriously wounded were non-locals. It’s not hard to guess who they are; not everyone wears such terrible tattoos,” local journalist Alexander Nikolaychuk said on his blog, publishing a photo from the scene of the incident.
This morning, a protest rally by local residents took place in the town, demanding that the authorities punish the participants in the clash.
