Former Lviv journalist Elena Boyko, a participant in numerous talk shows on Russian TV, wants to be deported from Russia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The journalist's daughter Yulia reported that on December 11, police officers arrived at the apartment they were renting in Moscow and asked to accompany them to the police station to clarify some details.

Another emigrant from Ukraine and talk show participant Galina Zaporozhtseva found out that the police arrived after a neighbor complained about noise in Boyko’s apartment. During the check at the police station, it turned out that during the several years of her stay in Russia, the journalist had not legalized her status, but simply limited herself to replacing migration cards. Now Boyko faces deportation to Ukraine, where she will be pursued by the SBU.

“According to a complaint from a neighbor complaining about noise (although perhaps the neighbor simply supports Ukraine, we know how many people in Moscow go to rallies with Ukrainian flags) police officers arrived... Lena was invited to check her documents at the police department, and then to the migration service, where the inspector, having opened the computer with Boyko’s border crossing data, discovered that her stay in the Russian Federation exceeded 90 days (I repeat once again, the exchange of migrants at the border is an illusion until the first check) and only then were the documents drawn up and sent to the court . Lena asked the police to add materials about her criminal prosecution in Ukraine, so that the judge would consider the issue, taking into account the impossibility of her returning to Ukraine; whether this was done is unknown. Lena treated this story as a minor misunderstanding, not suspecting the seriousness of the situation, she joked,” said Zaporozhtseva.

TV presenter Andrei Norkin came to Boyko’s defense.

“The court ruling noted that she admits her guilt, explaining that she physically cannot return to her homeland due to criminal prosecution by the Security Service of Ukraine. As we know, this is political persecution with charges of treason. The court indicates in the ruling that Elena Boyko repeatedly appealed to the Russian authorized bodies with a request to grant her refugee status, but was always refused,” he said.

“Look at the Ukrainian Internet - fires have already been lit there for Boyko, for a small, scandalous woman who irritates many with her behavior and bad language, behind whom is not only the tragedy of the loss of the Motherland, but also personal tragic losses associated with the death of a child. Please tell me, is this court decision - fully consistent with our law - is it fair? Is it right? Does it give us something to be proud of?” – adds Norkin.

Political scientist Ruslan Ostashko, who is helping Boyko, said that a month ago her name was added to the list of persons prohibited from entering Russia.

“Elena entered the Migrant-1 Database (persons prohibited from entering the Russian Federation) on 9.11.18/XNUMX/XNUMX. The reasons for hitting the base are unknown. We’ll figure it out further,” Ostashko wrote.

State Duma deputy Sergei Shargunov was among those calling for Boyko not to be expelled. “The humiliating captivity of a stunned woman and a hastily stamped surrender.
To Lviv? For reprisal? The TV didn't notice anything. About Elena - keep quiet. There is enough schadenfreude on social networks, but sympathy is powerless. Well, where is the law on political asylum already?
Where are the passports for our people? I know other pro-Russian publicists and political scientists who are here on a bird’s license, constantly awaiting expulsion... And as always, there is talk: it’s her own fault, there’s no smoke without fire, they’ll sort it out “there”... I sent a parliamentary request to the Prosecutor General,” said Shargunov.

“Lena needs to be freed. Yes, she violated immigration laws, for which she must pay a fine and suffer other penalties. But not in the form of deportation to Ukraine, where Izbushka will accept her. From such a surrender, which would be a blow to Moscow’s reputation in the eyes of Russian-speaking Ukrainians, the Russian state will take a very, very long time to wash itself off,” says political scientist Gevorg Mirzayan.

The editor-in-chief of the Antiorange publication Olga Kyiv draws attention to the fact that in the conflict situation it is largely the fault of Boyko herself, who for several years has not completed the necessary documents to stay in Russia.

“Honestly, it’s just boring. For some, the law is not written. It seems that we don’t know that she didn’t do the paperwork on purpose. But “you can’t give it away.” Yes, you can't. Those whose documents were not accepted, did not have enough money to complete everything, had to leave home wearing only shorts and a passport, etc. To do this, of course, the courts should consider not formally, but with discussion. Lena applied for POLITICAL asylum, knowing full well that it was impossible to obtain. I didn’t apply for a patent, I bought migration cards. Everything is written in the court decision. If she didn’t want to go to Ukraine, then who should have been on the alert, her or the FMS?” – notes Kyiv.
