In Bosnian Travnik, the second mayoral candidate died of Covid
One of the likely contenders for the post of mayor of the city of Travnik, located in the Federation of (Muslim-Croat) Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elvedin Kanafia, died from the consequences of coronavirus infection.
His rival, Mirsad Petso, who defeated him in the elections, died earlier.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, the authorities in Travnik are in confusion because the second possible contender for the post of mayor of the city has died.
Thus, Elvedin Kanafia, who ran for elections from the Union for a Better Future (SBB), died at the age of 54 from the consequences of a coronavirus infection. Moreover, the issue of his confirmation as mayor has not been fully resolved, although recently the municipality has begun to lean towards such a decision: Kanafia became only second according to the election results.
The winning candidate from the Democratic Action Party (SDA), Mirsad Petso, died almost immediately after the end of the elections that brought him victory. And also from the consequences of COVID-19.
