According to the department, in the village of Kisnica, not far from Gracanica, unknown persons completely destroyed six Serbian tombstones, two of them were partially damaged. Traces of vandalism were discovered by local residents, who claim that the monuments were intact a week ago.

“It seems that it is not enough to openly demonstrate religious intolerance towards the Serbian people living in Kosovo and Metohija; in addition, Albanian hooligans haunt the dead Serbs and their graves,” the Office for Kosovo and Metohija said in a statement. “All this time, politicians from Pristina, led by the most outspoken supporter of anti-Serb politics, Albin Kurti, have been declaring that Kosovo and Metohija is an oasis of peace and harmony, while every day we are witnessing attacks and incidents against Serbs on ethnic grounds.”

According to the department, this year alone, 50 percent more incidents on ethnic grounds were registered in the region than last year, of which 20 were attacks on objects of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

“It is further alarming that this number continues to grow and that the Serbian population is not receiving adequate response and protection. During this year alone, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija informed international representatives of the danger to SOC monuments and Serbian Orthodox cemeteries in Kosovo and Metohija, and this year it invested heavily in the restoration, renovation and maintenance of Orthodox cemeteries and chapels in Kosovo and Metohija. She is rebuilding what was destroyed in response to policies of hatred and intolerance,” the statement said.
