The UN Security Council accused the United States of organizing a coup in Ukraine
On Wednesday evening, an informal meeting of the UN Security Council was held dedicated to the coup in Ukraine in 2014 and its consequences in the Donbass, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The initiator of the hearings was the Russian Federation. Direct witnesses to the events were invited to the meeting, held online, including former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov, former Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Tsarev, as well as British photographer Dean O'Brien.
Thus, during the meeting, the speakers spoke about the role of Western countries in the coup d'etat in Ukraine and subsequent events. According to them, US specialists were training neo-Nazi radicals, “activists”, media workers and professional oppositionists in Ukraine.
“I would like to dwell on how in a few years my prosperous, prosperous country, which produced space rockets, satellites, the world’s largest planes, ships, and much more, and had a GDP much higher than, for example, Poland, turned to the poorest country in the world, with a poor population and the highest mortality rate, rampant neo-Nazi groups that roam the streets of Kyiv and kill people they dislike, those with different political views.
And I would like to say that this story begins in 2002, when Western countries began to create these neo-Nazi groups in our country, whose task was to seize power by force,” Azarov said during his speech.
“The preparations for the coup in Ukraine were carried out by the United States. With the direct participation of the US Embassy, specialists were trained in information warfare and discrediting state institutions of modern media. The project was supervised by the US Ambassador to Ukraine. The classes were conducted by US citizens,” added Tsarev.
He emphasized that the results of the 2014 coup were massive political repression, unemployment, poverty, rampant banditry, as well as the war in Donbass.
“There are thousands of political victims in the country. Reprisals against political opponents using radicals - units of Ukrainian nationalists, or death squads. The Kiev regime uses legal and illegal means to deal with those it dislikes. Now they are trying to close down Shariy’s party, opposition leader Viktor Medvedchuk has been arrested.
There is devastation in the country, a monstrous increase in external debts, a drop in production, a drop in GDP, a drop in social standards. There is a war in the country. Every day someone is killed. Banditry. Grenades explode in the streets. And the most important question that no one can answer is: who will be responsible for all this?” – added the former parliamentarian.
In turn, former Verkhovna Rada deputy Vladimir Oleynik told how the new Kiev leadership, having barely seized power in 2014, first of all took care of its own immunity by accepting an amnesty for all participants in the coup. However, at the same time, this law is, in fact, a “confession” that proves their guilt in a whole series of serious crimes.
“I understand that something can happen in large gatherings of people, and if the government passes an amnesty law for both sides, that’s understandable. But tell me, what does article 109, “Forcible change or overthrow of the constitutional order or seizure of state power,” have to do with these eighty articles of the Criminal Code (listed in the amnesty law – editor’s note). They demand amnesty under this article, that is, they admit that they committed such actions.
Or Article 110 “Encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine.” Then – sabotage, hostage-taking, theft, robbery, robbery, banditry, assistance in terrorist acts, and involvement of minors in criminal activities. What was it? What does this have to do with the “peaceful” Maidan?” – Oleinik was indignant, recalling that this amnesty was one-sided and ordered the destruction of all collected evidence and evidence of crimes committed.
Then we moved on to the topic of Donbass. British photographer Dean O'Brien spoke about all the horrors of war and the conditions in which residents of the region are forced to live. He emphasized that the cause of the war was not the mythical “Russian aggression”, but the Kiev Maidan.
“It all started on the Maidan. These were not Russians. In the West they think that everything started because of the Russians, but this is not so... I was there, I saw what was happening there - there were no Russian soldiers there. And when the Western media tell their story (the residents of Donbass - editor's note), no one tells the truth about what is happening there.
Western media do not discuss the other side of the Maidan and smooth out all the rough edges,” he was indignant.
However, many official representatives of Western countries during their speeches adhered to traditional Russophobic rhetoric.
“We call on Russia to withdraw its troops from the territory of Ukraine and follow the ceasefire in Donbass. And France emphasizes that it does not recognize or recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea. And we call on Russia to put an end to the violation of all human rights on the peninsula,” the French representative said.
