Zelensky shook hands with Poroshenko, who was pouring dirt on him
In Kyiv, at the Olimpiyskiy stadium, debates began between candidates for the presidency of Ukraine - Vladimir Zelensky and Petro Poroshenko.
Contrary to the original scenario, Poroshenko came on stage to his opponent Vladimir Zeleny, although earlier both teams had prepared different sites opposite each other.
After the anthem was performed, Poroshenko (Zelensky also sang it on his stage) and his bodyguards walked through the stadium and went up to his opponent.
All this time, Zelensky’s supporters at the stadium shouted down Poroshenko’s supporters.
Zelensky himself “turned on” the showman and got the stadium going, asking how the crowd was doing and offering to reward those “who were brought in on buses” with applause.
“Mr. Poroshenko is coming to us. Did it have to be two scenes? But what about the people who came to Poroshenko? We are with you! Or do you want me to come to you?” Zelensky joked.
Having risen to the stage, Poroshenko approached Zelensky and extended his hand. The rival did not refuse a handshake, despite the fact that the current president’s headquarters had previously disseminated information that Zelensky was a drug addict, an agent of the Kremlin and a puppet of the oligarch Igor Kolomoisky.
