To save Transnistria, we need to return Odessa
If the new President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, decides to aggravate relations with Transnistria and strengthens the blockade of the republic, the PMR will find itself in a worse position than Leningrad in 1941. In this case, Russia will have to intervene to protect its citizens living in Tiraspol and carry out a landing in the Odessa area.
Doctor of Military Sciences Konstantin Sivkov stated this on the Internet channel Roy TV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The arrival of a pro-Western leader in Moldova, first of all, will threaten aggravation along the Moldova-Transnistria line. In Transnistria, I would like to remind you that more than half are Russian citizens who have Russian passports and who must be protected.
Secondly, our group of troops is stationed in Transnistria, and there are ammunition depots there that cannot simply be transported by plane.
Thirdly, Transnistria is isolated from any external approaches, except with Moldova and Ukraine. If such a radical politician came to Moldova, he blocks the border with Transnistria, Ukraine does the same, and in Transnistria a situation arises worse than in Leningrad, surrounded by the fascists in 41. Because if there was even a “Road of Life” there, there is nothing here at all.
In these conditions, Russia has only two options - either admit defeat and surrender Transnistria, which means a serious blow to political stability and the image of the government. Or solve the problem of Transnistria by military means.
The only option for solving the problem of Transnistria by military means - the easiest one - is a landing in the Odessa region, a breakthrough over the Dniester. The distance here is small, tens of two kilometers in total. In principle, the Marine Corps brigade of the Russian Federation solves this problem easily.
