Chubarov recalled how Kovitidi supported him in February 2014
Olga Kovitidi, who is currently a senator from Crimea in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, supported Refat Chubarov at a meeting of deputies of the Supreme Council of Crimea on February 26, 2014.
Chubarov stated this during interrogation at a court hearing in the case of “Yanukovych’s treason,” talking about the events in Crimea after the coup in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We tried to explain to the deputies what was happening. They said that if they make a decision today (and it is already known what it will be, what Konstantinov and his entourage are leading to), then tomorrow Crimea will simply wake up in chaos and disaster, since actions will simply begin that we will no longer be able to control.
I spoke about interference in the affairs of Ukraine. Some colleagues - I saw it in their eyes - understood all this and internally supported it.
A well-known deputy... Kovitidi, who previously worked in the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, then in the Department of Justice of Sevastopol, then - a people's deputy close to the authorities, she came out and supported me.
She said that Refat is telling the absolute truth, that if we don’t think now, let’s think about children, grandchildren, that we are a united Ukraine, and all that stuff. This is Kovitidi, who is a senator today,” said Refat Chubarov.
