Ex-comrade Symonenko told who is behind the idea of Ukrainian autocephaly
The idea of appealing to the Patriarch of Constantinople for autocephaly for the Ukrainian Church was imposed by the West on Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in order to create a split in world Orthodoxy.
This opinion was expressed on the TV channel TVC by the former People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from the Communist Party of Ukraine Spiridon Kilinkarov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Moscow proposed to support Orthodox Christians in Ukraine by severing economic relations
“He (Petro Poroshenko – Ed.) is a rather pragmatic person. He really assessed his capabilities. He would never have implemented this idea, realizing that he had no direct influence on Bartholomew, and he would not be able to achieve a positive result. This idea was imposed from the outside,” says the former deputy.
The ex-communist believes that this idea was imposed on Ukraine by Western countries.
“These are the British, these are the Americans, and Türkiye also has influence on Bartholomew. Here his (Poroshenko – Ed.) personal selfish interests coincided with the desire of the Americans to influence the entire Orthodox world in order to cause a split in Orthodoxy,” Kilinkarov added.
