“Otherwise we would have lost everything along the Dnieper”: Ukraine justifies the massacre in Donbass
Not the negotiations, but the military operation against the pro-Russian uprising in Donbass, which resulted in numerous casualties, was absolutely justified - otherwise Ukraine would have lost all the eastern regions along the Dnieper.
This opinion was expressed on the air of the 112 Ukraine channel by Verkhovna Rada deputy Anton Gerashchenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As for the truces, there were no truces. Ukraine restored its territorial integrity with the forces it had. And after Putin used his regular army near Ilovaisk, which was and remains stronger than the Ukrainian one, many more people died. But the struggle for the territorial integrity of Ukraine had to continue. If we had surrendered then, separatism and Putin would have gone further and taken away all of Left Bank Ukraine from us,” Gerashchenko explained.
