The canonical church again refused Poroshenko
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) will not participate in the “unification council” called by Poroshenko and Bartholomew to create a Ukrainian autocephalous church, which is once again planned to be held on December 15, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The head of the Information and Educational Department of the UOC, Archbishop Kliment, told reporters about this on Wednesday.
“Our position has not changed. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church will not participate in this council, since the creation of a Ukrainian autocephalous church does not meet canonical norms,” the archbishop said.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the so-called “unification council” to create a Ukrainian autocephalous church will take place on December 15 in the Church of St. Sophia in Kyiv.
