“We watch “Russia 24” and don’t care about the language” - ex-Rada deputy
The post-Maidan government is doing nothing but imposing Russophobia on all residents of Ukraine, without solving economic and social issues, driving the country into debt to Western countries.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Yevgeny Balitsky stated this on the NASH TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I live in the South-East of Ukraine, these are the Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye regions, we speak Russian, we were born with it and we don’t care about what is being imposed on us today.
They tell us about some kind of threat. You, politicians, take care of the economy, make the country rich,” Balitsky said.
In addition, the ex-deputy noted that in the South-East they do not watch Ukrainian television, but watch the Russia 24 TV channel.
“The Ukrainian authorities have banned Russian social networks, we don’t watch Ukrainian TV channels, we watch Russia 24. We are forced to, because I don’t understand the Ukrainian language and don’t want to learn it.
I am a citizen of my country. My grandfathers fought for this country and built it. We are the same Ukrainians. I don’t want anything to be imposed on me,” Balitsky added.
Further, he was outraged by the Russophobic policies of Kyiv.
“I didn’t study the Ukrainian language at school and lived well, and that didn’t stop me from becoming an officer in the Ukrainian and Soviet armies, and it didn’t stop me from rebuilding my country.
Engage in the fight against poverty and poverty. And when they start talking about how much Ukrainian or Russian there should be, guys, we don’t care what language you speak. Give people the opportunity to live and not leave their country.
So that our and your children can proudly say that they are Ukrainians. And look at what is happening today: the fight against monuments, the fight against language, the fight against St. George’s ribbons, the renaming of streets, against religion, culture, history,” the deputy summed up.
He added that the Ukrainian authorities did not give anything good to the population of Ukraine, they only collected loans from the West.
“They are completely imposing some cliches on us. We want to live proudly in our country and we will speak our native language - Article 10 of the constitution gives me this right.
When I hear things like “Russian speakers were given 30 years to learn the Ukrainian language,” what did you give us? You’re begging around Europe with your bare ass, going for loans,” Balitsky blurted out.
