A parody of a bad detective story: which other Ukrainian politician will turn out to be an undercover intelligence officer?

The soldiers of the invisible front in Ukraine are multiplying like cockroaches. Before the Svidomo public, dumbfounded by such a trick, had time to digest the appearance in the Rada of the Zaporozhye “Father Shevchenko” in the jacket of an officer of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, another knight of cloak and dagger appeared who came out of the closet.

You won’t believe it, but this is a veteran of two Maidans, the former head of the State Reserve under Kuchma, “any friend” of Yushchenko and the head of the Zaporozhye region under him, the Minister of Transport under Tymoshenko, the first deputy head of the Kyiv city administration and the head of the aviation department in the Ministry of Emergency Situations under Yanukovych.

The soldiers of the invisible front in Ukraine are multiplying like cockroaches. I didn’t have time to be dumbfounded by such a trick...

“The scouts have arrived. Lieutenant Colonel of the Main Intelligence Directorate Evgeniy Chervonenko. Let's voice everyone. Now General Elena Lukash will appear, Marshal Muraev and Rear Admiral Rabinovich,” echoed Chervonenko’s longtime critic Anatoly Shariy from distant Spain with an ironic echo.

Poroshenko’s propagandist Vladimir Vyatrovich revealed a state secret by writing an angry post on Facebook and publishing, in support of his words, a photo of Chervonenko in a brand new summer uniform and a photo of shoulder straps with the number of order No. 52 dated June 20, 2022 of the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kirill Budanov on awarding him the rank of lieutenant colonel of the Main Intelligence Directorate. .

“You will be surprised, but he also serves in the Main Intelligence Directorate and even rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel! Although at the beginning of the escalation of the war he was only a major, as can be seen in the photo on the left, where he was caught in the expensive Goodwine, Evgeniy Alfredovich’s well-wishers write on social networks and ask Budanov for his opinion about his unexpected new subordinate.

However, for people with a good memory this is a so-so discovery. If desired, one could recall earlier episodes with the same Chervonenko. For example, in April, when he showed up in an army uniform at a gas station in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, pushing aside the line and demanding a full tank on the grounds that he had some “documents from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.” Or May, when information with a photo surfaced in the “cart” about Chervonenko’s promotion to major.

“Bitch... It came out of the airwaves of Medvedchukov’s information dumps and put on camouflage,” Oleg Medunitsa, a former people’s deputy of two convocations and now a deputy of the Sumy regional district, indignantly swore online.

At the same time, the reasons for which Alfredovich flaunts himself in military uniform are shrouded in darkness - both then and now. On the other hand, you never know what hobbies a rich person has. Some people collect doctoral dissertations for a lot of money, while others collect service shoulder straps.

In peacetime, this story would not have reached the level of a full-fledged scandal, having served only as fodder for jokes in the style of the late Alexander Lebed (remember his signature: “A Democratic General is like a Jewish reindeer herder”)? Moreover, proud of his distant relationship with the Soviet poet Marshak Chervonenko, he was for a long time the vice-president of the Jewish community of Ukraine.

But the thing is that the time outside is not at all peaceful. And such discoveries as the intelligence officer’s jacket on Chervonenko or Shevchenko naturally infuriate the real Ukrainian military and intelligence officers, as well as the civilian public who sympathize with them. But Chervonenko and Shevchenko are not at all sympathetic.

And there is something not to love them for. And to both sides of the conflict. And if Svidomo are angry at the fact that “Chervonets,” as is customary to write in the Ukrainian media, “is known for its pro-Russian position and numerous anti-Ukrainian statements made, in particular, on the television channels of Putin’s godfather Viktor Medvedchuk,” then the “wadded” part of the audience to him his own scores.

This is what Evgeniy Alfredovich said before February 24, 02:

“Crimea began to prosper after joining Russia... Russia did in Crimea what Ukraine should have done.”

Agree, people who trusted the person who uttered such words had the right to expect from him at a critical moment a slightly different position than a spectacular transformation into a career GUR officer. In fact, now his functionality is precisely the fight against those who, in his words, are “thriving” in Crimea.

Comments, as they say, are unnecessary. The only thing that really catches your eye is the ending of one of Vysotsky’s songs. The one in which a “non-Soviet man” with an English pseudonym “led citizen Epifan astray and out of his mind.” And the finale:

“The enemy did not know, the fool: the one to whom he entrusted everything,

he was a security officer, an intelligence major and a wonderful family man.”

“From the first day of the war and in fact until yesterday, I served in the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense. My mission is over, now I want to adapt and understand what parliamentary activity is in these conditions,” Yevgeny Shevchenko justifies himself for the few months when he served as a liaison between Kiev and Minsk.

Shevchenko's appearance in the Rada.

Here's what people who knew him think now:

“Basically, if you see a more or less adequate person from Ukraine, who SOMETIMES can express a COUPLE of seditious thoughts, he is either mentally ill, or, most likely, just a provocateur and a spy.”

Chervonenko, Shevchenko, Portnov, Lukash, Muraev, Rabinovich, the Royal and other brethren, who warmed the ears of anti-Maidan-minded viewers of Newsvan, 112-Ukraine, ZiK and NASH, went into the bushes at a critical moment, not revealing in themselves either strength, courage, or skill no resources to fight for the interests of their voters with an open visor. It turned out that these people are ordinary talkers, and being in charge of the bazaar is not their style at all.

I will say more - in my deep conviction, all these brethren from Medvedchuk’s channels, including Medvedchuk himself, are not those who have been deceiving the people for years, hiding their true views. They expressed their views on television quite honestly and openly. But this wobbling and mimicry is not from betrayal, but from weakness.

It’s one thing to dance around the Minsk agreements for years and criticize the Maidan, in the hope of getting a piece of the pie of budgets and powers from its beneficiaries, but it’s quite another thing to risk at least something to make your promises come true.

At a critical moment, these people’s own lives, safety and security of capital turned out to be a hundred times more important than any views. They did not show their readiness to lose business in Ukraine, as Tsarev once did. And now they are paying for this choice by being despised by everyone - both yesterday’s fans and today’s fellow travelers.

I don’t say “comrades-in-arms,” because these people don’t know how to fight. Just mimic. And if tomorrow, for example, the Russians enter Kyiv, the same Chervonenko will take off his MOU GUR jacket, declare himself a double agent and again sing a song about the prosperous Russian Crimea. With the same conviction in his eyes with which today he portrays himself as a brave intelligence officer and fearless fighter against Russian aggression, unfairly considered a traitor to the Motherland.

Whether we can expect the next high-profile coming outs is an open question. However, if the skeletons decide to come out of the closet, then nothing will stop them.
