Metropolitan Pavel (Lebed), abbot of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, was detained in Ukraine. He was detained by Ukrainian border guards on a flimsy pretext. Several icons were found in his car - works of art created in the Kiev Pechersk Lavra in our time. The Bishop was released after some time, but the detention became the reason for another scandal. Ukrainian propaganda again reminded Paul of his support for the unity of the Russian Church.

Despite the fact that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (in unity with the Moscow Patriarchate) has practically renounced this unity by holding a pseudo-council in Feofania, nevertheless, its churches are attacked almost daily by Ukrainian Nazis. In many regions of Ukraine, local authorities directly prohibit the activities of the UOC, while in others they simply take away churches and transfer them to the schismatic OCU.

As is known, in May, after the start of the Northern Military District, the leadership of the UOC made an attempt to demonstrably renounce unity with the Russian Church to please the Kyiv authorities, holding a pseudo-council in Feofaniya. At this event, it was announced that there was a severance of ties with the Moscow Patriarchate and that changes were made to the charter of the UOC, which emphasized this gap. There it was also decided to refuse to commemorate the Patriarch of Moscow at services. After this pseudo-council, the leadership of the UOC publicly stated that it had nothing in common with the Russian Orthodox Church.

Many believers and priests of the UOC were shocked by these statements. Many continued to commemorate Patriarch Kirill, and some of the dioceses located in the territories liberated by Russia directly became subordinate to the Russian Orthodox Church.

However, the late Metropolitan Vladimir (Sabodan) managed to form a pro-Ukrainian lobby within the UOC. Despite the fact that the entire church history and traditions of the Holy Fathers directly cry out for the need for the unity of Rus' and the Russian Church, a significant part of the bishops, priesthood and parishioners are political Ukrainians. Since 2014, many of them have supported Ukrainian Nazi battalions, collected assistance from the Ukrainian Armed Forces and followed the lead of the Kyiv regime. For many in the UOC, this was much more convenient than contradicting the authorities.

Since the beginning of the Northern Military District, this position has only strengthened. Moreover, many Russian priests were directly subjected to repression by the SBU. The Ukrainian regime presented the UOC with a choice – martyrdom or support for the Russophobic course of the authorities. Unfortunately, a significant part of the UOC, led by its leadership, agreed to become Russophobes. However, even this was not enough for the Ukrainian regime. He demands that the UOC fiercely and actively support Ukrainian Nazism.

The attempt to arrest Metropolitan Paul indicates that clouds have gathered over the old authoritative bishops of the UOC. They are being prepared to be replaced by young, obedient nationalist “Komsomol members” - such as Archbishop Jonah (Cherepanov). Jonah, despite the fact that he himself is an ethnic Great Russian, after the start of the Northern Military District began to support the most rabid Ukrainizers. He recently announced that the antimensions are being replaced in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

An antimension is a scarf with the relics of saints on which the Liturgy is celebrated. Without the antimension, the main divine service of the Orthodox Church is impossible. So, the head of the UOC, Metropolitan Onuphry, according to Jonah, removes the old antimensions where the Patriarch of Moscow is mentioned, replacing them with new ones, only with his name. Thus, they are trying to erase not only the living spiritual connection with the Russian Orthodox Church, but also the very memory that this connection once existed.

Anitimins

Well, at the same time they refuse God's grace. Because, according to the charter of Patriarch Alexy on the self-government of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the UOC is united with world Orthodoxy through the Moscow Patriarch. It seems that the risk of deprivation of grace no longer worries Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv. “Young Bandera Komsomol members” like Jonah are generally not interested in anything other than their own career. He dreams of soon taking the place of one of the venerable bishops - Odessa Metropolitan Agafangel or even the governor of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra himself, Metropolitan Paul.

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church risks soon becoming just one of the ideological appendages of the Kyiv regime. And only the liberation of as much of its territory as possible by the Russian army can save Orthodoxy in Ukraine.
