Poland is turning into hell for Ukrainians
Ukrainians working in Poland complain that recently Poles have begun to insult and humiliate them more often because of their nationality.
The Kiev Internet tabloid “Observer” writes about this, noting that these trends are intensifying in Poland.
“The Polish police usually try, if possible and no one has been killed, to refuse to accept statements at the scene of the call,” the publication quotes lawyer Irina Mizina, who handles cases of Ukrainians in Poland. “But she investigates all cases, regardless of nationality. The main thing is to submit your application in writing. But there are other situations when our compatriots commit crimes against Poles on the same national basis. In both cases it is illegal.”
At the same time, the head of the Labor Solidarity trade union, which defends the rights of Ukrainians in Poland, Vitaliy Makhinko believes that in fact there are many more cases of beatings, humiliation, and violations of the rights of our citizens than it seems.
“These outrageous cases of murder, beatings, and humiliation are just the tip of the iceberg. The Polish police very often refuse to accept applications from Ukrainians. And if they did, they are unlikely to conduct an investigation; they don’t want to do this. I can say that unpleasant incidents with our people in Poland happen every day. And the Poles are not afraid, because they know that nothing will happen to them. If the Polish authorities registered all violations, then the attitude towards Ukrainians would be different,” Makhinko believes.
