The drama “Sky”, filmed by director Igor Kopylov, will be included in the list of mandatory viewings in the Russian Armed Forces - the corresponding instruction was given by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

“I am convinced that the film will contribute to the patriotic education of military personnel, in this regard, I ask the commanders-in-chief of the branches of the Armed Forces, commanders of military districts and naval forces, branches of the military, heads of military command and control bodies to provide personnel with the opportunity to watch the film “Sky.” I instruct you to include it in the list of films required for viewing in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation,” Shoigu said at a conference call at the Ministry of Defense.

The film about the feat of Russian pilots should be shown especially to new recruits, many of whom were exposed to Western propaganda in civilian life. This is what the representative of the “Officers of Russia” organization, Honored Pilot of the Russian Federation, Yuri Sytnik, thinks so.

“These are young and healthy people, cut off from the Internet, because not all parts allow the use of telephones and the Internet, so they come from the “citizens” with a slightly distorted psyche and understanding of values. Especially about state values such as the Motherland, loyalty to duty, betrayal, and so on.

The efforts of Western intelligence services, who are already trying to blame us for starting the war, have a negative impact on the education of young people. And films like “Sky,” about the exploits of our military personnel - pilots, tank crews, sailors, submariners, must be conveyed and shown, so that people’s consciousness is strengthened and they understand why they serve in the army,” Sytnik said.

Political scientist Alexey Martynov notes that there should be more films like this in Russia, especially in the context of information pressure from the West:

“If Shoigu ordered to include this film in the list of must-sees, then it is worth it. The West has “Hollywood”, which is dedicated to propaganda. But we don’t have Hollywood, that’s the whole difference.”

According to Hero of Russia, test pilot 1st class Anatoly Knyshov, films like “Sky” should be mandatory viewing not only in the Armed Forces.

“Shoigu’s decision is absolutely correct, because every word that sounds in this film is a call to patriotism, to fulfill one’s military duty. “Sky” is one of those films that we learned from, for example, the film “Only Old Men Go to Battle.” And this is a film of a new direction, a new time, it is needed for young people.

Many elements are shown there: the combat maneuvers that were performed are an example for our cadets in flight and military schools, who want to join aviation, to imitate.

This film is timely and necessary; in the new history of Russia there are many difficult events in which commanders have to make the right and competent decision.

It seems to me that this film is necessary for viewing not only in the army, but also for all of Russia - it not only enriches our cinematic art, but also sets an example for which we must serve our country.”
