The Rada terminated Venediktova’s powers ahead of schedule under the curses of gunpowder robots
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine prematurely terminated the parliamentary powers of Irina Venediktova, a member of the ruling Servant of the People party, appointed on December 27, 2019 acting director State Bureau of Investigation.
The corresponding decision was made during a plenary session of parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This appointment was sharply criticized by ex-vice speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, deputy from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc party Irina Gerashchenko, calling it contrary to the Constitution.
“This appointment of an acting official occurred with gross violations, and for three weeks we had a part-time MP who served as the head of one of the key law enforcement agencies, which we created in the previous parliament, as an independent.
Moreover, it is precisely because of the imperfections of this appointment that today the announced competition for deputy heads of the SBI is being called into question.
We would like to remind you that the information that the competition was being announced appeared on one day, and the very next day this competition ended, although on holidays even collecting the necessary certificates takes more time.
Therefore, it is obvious that these are gross violations, just like the appointment of the head of the SBI, does not correspond to the conclusions of the Constitutional Court regarding the latest amendments to the Constitution proposed by President Zelensky, voted exclusively by the monoparty on the first day of your work, and which were declared unconstitutional,” she said odious associate of the former president.
However, despite the protests of the newly formed opposition, the majority supported the termination of Irina Venediktova’s parliamentary powers - 340 out of 392 deputies voted in favor.
Thus, a legislative formality was observed, allowing the protege of Vladimir Zelensky to legally head the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine.
