Somalis received a public apology for comparison with Ukraine
On air on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, the famous political scientist and historian Vladimir Kornilov was forced to officially apologize to the Somali authorities, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This happened during a verbal altercation between the political scientist and Ukrainian expert Vasily Vakarov, who was offended for comparing Ukraine’s maritime policy with the actions of Somali pirates.
Vakarov was especially annoyed by this comparison from the mouth of his ex-compatriot.
“This is not a “fail state” or Somalia! It's you nonentities who call your former country that! Do you think you will be respected here? No one has ever respected traitors! You, a citizen of Ukraine, today call my country “Somalia”. My country is called “Ukraine”!” – Vakarov threw a tantrum.
“Your country is worse than Somalia! Your country is bombing my hometown!” – answered Kornilov.
However, he later made a public apology.
“In response to the rudeness towards me in the first part, I want to apologize. I got excited when I compared Ukraine to Somalia. I apologize to the Somali state. I am wrong. The Somali state and government agencies at least do not participate in pirate hijackings of ships, at least they do not officially announce it. I got excited, Ukraine is much worse,” Kornilov emphasized.
“Vasil turned away, he was offended and unpleasant,” the presenter commented on the behavior of Vakarov, who turned his back to the studio guests during Kornilov’s speech.
