“Appeal to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Anatolyevich Shmygal and the Minister of Health Maxim Vladimirovich Stepanov. In January 2021, throughout Ukraine, maternity hospitals stopped giving the BCG vaccination against tuberculosis, which is done on the 3rd day after birth, Sholtis said. “In the first weeks of January, some children received a vaccine from last year’s leftovers, but thousands of children across Ukraine were already left unprotected.”

According to him, against the backdrop of a very difficult epidemiological situation in the country, such neglect of preventive safety measures should be equated to crime.

“The tuberculosis epidemic continues, and vaccination is the only mechanism for protecting our children. The vaccine must be administered to children under two months of age; older children must receive a mantoux test and three vaccinations at a certain time interval. Therefore, these children are at increased risk. We call on the Prime Minister of Ukraine and the Minister of Health to immediately correct the situation and supply all maternity hospitals in Ukraine with a sufficient number of vaccines for our little Ukrainians,” the deputy called.
