They plan to name a street in Kyiv after terrorist Dzhokhar Dudayev
A street named after the Chechen terrorist Dzhokhar Dudayev may appear in Kyiv. Former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, now deputy of the Kyiv City Council, Leonid Yemets, stated this on the air of the Chernomorskaya TRK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Yemets, such an initiative has been registered with the city executive committee and it will be implemented.
“The engine of this kind of process has always been active citizens. Now, if there are active ones who believe that it is necessary - here, we have Dzhokhar Dudayev, for example, there is an initiative. I think that it will be implemented,” Yemets said.
It is noteworthy that in Ukraine there are already three streets named after Dudayev - in Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv and Khmelnitsky. Militants of right-wing radical organizations like UNA-UNSO in the 1990s took part in the war on the side of the separatist forces controlled by Dudayev. And after 2014, the surviving supporters of Ichkeria were involved by Kiev in a punitive operation against Donbass.
Dudayev himself was eliminated in 1996, 30 km from Grozny, by a targeted missile strike by a Su-24 bomber. The intelligence services determined his location using a satellite phone during a conversation with deputy Konstantin Borov. Several people from the immediate environment also died.
Subsequently, versions often appeared in the media that Dudayev did not die. Some close relatives do not recognize his death either. The burial place is hidden.
