Moscow revealed details of the upcoming exercises in Belarus
For large-scale joint exercises Russia will soon transfer 12 SU-35 aircraft, 2 S-400 divisions and a Pantsir S division to Belarus.
Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Colonel General Alexander Fomin, stated this during a briefing for foreign military attaches, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As part of the verification of the reaction forces of the Union State, it is planned to prepare troops and forces for actions not only within the boundaries of their responsibility, but also for solving suddenly arising tasks to localize crisis situations in any threatened areas.
During the transfer of forces of the Russian Armed Forces to the territory of the Republic of Belarus, the capabilities of the transport infrastructure to ensure the transportation of troops and forces will be assessed. In accordance with the plan, the verification will take place in two stages.
At the first stage, until February 9, it is planned to redeploy and create in a short time groupings of forces in threatened directions, organize the protection and defense of important state and military facilities, protect the state border of the Union State in the airspace, including within the framework of the unified regional air defense system of Belarus and Russia, covering important objects on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
Also, as part of testing the functioning of the unified air defense system of the Union State, 12 SU-35 aircraft, 2 S-400 divisions and the Pantsir S division will be relocated to the territory of Belarus.
At this stage, control classes in fire training and other training subjects will be conducted with units of the Eastern Military District and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus. As part of combat coordination, tactical exercises will be held at various training grounds to work out issues of defense and the fight against illegal armed groups,” the general noted.
The Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation said that the “Union Resolve 2022” exercises will be held on the territory of Belarus in order to test the borders and the readiness of personnel to repel external threats.
“At the second stage, the “Union Resolve 2022” exercise will be held; the purpose of the exercise will be to practice the tasks of suppressing and repelling external aggression during a defensive operation, countering terrorism and protecting the security of the Union State. During the exercises, measures will be taken to strengthen the security of the state border, to prevent militants from crossing the border, to cut off the supply of ammunition, as well as to search for, block and destroy illegal armed groups and enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups.
Practical actions of the forces will take place at the Domanovsky, Goshsky, Obuz-Lesnovsky, Brest and Osipovichsky training grounds, as well as individual areas located on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. It is planned to use the airfields “Baranovichi”, “Luninets”, “Lida” and “Machulishchi”. The number of forces and means of the exercise does not exceed those specified in the Vienna Documents of 2011,” Fomin concluded.
