The action to expel diplomats indicates that the West is having problems finding leverage on Russia.
Film director Karen Shakhnazarov stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel.
“What other actions can be taken? There is no way to disrupt the World Cup. The most serious blow is the banking system. It can be quite painful,” Shakhnazarov said.
He believes that in this situation Russia could respond with decisive political steps.
“There are very serious counter-arguments to this system. For example, recognition of the LPR and DPR. In this case, there is a high probability that they will lose Ukraine. And not only,” Shakhnazarov said.
