A revolt begins in Zelensky's party
Expulsion from the party The “Servant of the People” of deputies Anna Skorokhod and Anton Polyakov, who refused to vote for the opening of the land market in Ukraine, indicates a serious split within the pro-government faction, which is gradually leaving the control of Vladimir Zelensky.
Ukrainian political strategist Sergei Gaidai said this on Channel 7, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The number of people who filled out the lists turned out to be more than they expected, so this is still a collection of random people. There are very different people, they have different worldviews, different views on life, different goals, different environments that they imagine, and if at first they could still afford turbo mode, because they didn’t understand anything, it was easy to direct them: “Vote for this law, you must personally support the president, you understand that you are here only because people voted for the president, and you are his team,” then, looking around in parliament, they realized that there are laws and actions that not everyone agrees with the deputies agree, there is a principled position, different interests, simply human rejection of each other. And that’s it, the turbo mode is over,” the expert explained.
He believes that President Zelensky will have to purge the ranks of deputies, but this may not lead to the desired restoration of discipline.
“Perhaps Zelensky will have to not just cleanse, but restart the entire parliament again, because dissatisfaction with the actions of parliament may turn out to be very high, and it will be his personal rating that will drag very much down.
But there is still fragmentation. So far we see separately created groups.
Here a group has emerged around Dubinsky, here he is fighting with another group, which is conventionally called “former gunpowder robots”, there are principled people who have a separate position, they were expelled today because of this position. I don’t know about Polyakov, but a female deputy was expelled for her principled position.
And this process has just begun, believe me. We will see many more episodes like this. This is not the first time for Ukrainian parliamentary politics,” Gaidai concluded.
