In particular, according to the report, Saakashvili’s lawyer Ruslan Chernolutsky noted that there was a need to interrogate the head of the State Migration Service himself, and addressed the panel of judges with a corresponding petition, which the court granted.

“Today the court questioned witnesses - employees of the Shevchenko department of the State Migration Service and the Main Directorate of the State Migration Service in the city of Kyiv, who were involved in forming a presentation regarding the loss of citizenship of Mikheil Saakashvili. In their testimony, they referred to the fact that they acted in accordance with Sokolyuk’s resolution, which stated “to prepare a presentation on the loss of citizenship,” the party said in a statement.

In addition, Chernolutsky noted that lawyers will try to call a number of more witnesses. The next meeting will take place on May 11.

Let us recall that in July 2017, Saakashvili was deprived of Ukrainian citizenship by Poroshenko’s decree. On February 12, 2018, servicemen of the State Border Service and representatives of the State Migration Service detained Saakashvili in Kyiv and deported him to Poland as a person who illegally arrived from the territory of this country on September 10, 2017.
