Opinion: The blogger’s stunt in Crimea is a reason to ban Ukrainian symbols in Russia
A provocative video with the Ukrainian flag, shot by blogger Alena Bardovskaya on the streets of Crimean cities, is the reason for introducing a ban on yellow-blue symbols in Russia as a symbol of a Russophobic hostile state that is massively physically destroying and subjecting the Russian population to political repression.
Svyatoslav Kompaniets, co-founder of the Sevastopol-Crimea-Russia Popular Front, stated this to PolitNavigator.
“The question arises: how long would this person walk alive and well with the Russian tricolor along Khreshchatyk these days? Does she have a conscience as such - after the mass death of Russian people in Donbass and Odessa, to walk around Crimean cities with the flag of an obvious enemy of the Russian Federation?
On a walk in the center of Simferopol, Bardovskaya referred to the state status of the Ukrainian language in the Republic of Kazakhstan, which, in her opinion, gives the right to take pictures with impunity with the “ensign”, including near the building of the State Council of the Republic, where on February 26, 14, the brutal Mejlis members and visiting Banderaites sharpened their shafts yellow-blue flags attacked a peaceful rally of Crimeans, poisoning them with gas. This is the result of making an extremely wrong decision, which for the fifth year now has provided a “hook” for endless provocations of hidden and overt “non-brothers” on the peninsula.
In my opinion, the time has come to prohibit at the legislative level the public use of Ukrainian state symbols in the Russian Federation - as a symbol of zoological Russophobia, the ethnocide of millions of Russians and a means of self-affirmation of the liberal anti-Russian crowd in our country. Then Bardovskaya would have thought carefully about whether it is worth organizing an obvious provocation in Crimea and Sevastopol,” Kompaniets said.
Let us recall that Russian organizations in Ukraine, long before Euromaidan, insisted on the need to change state symbols.
Yellow-blue flags and tridents were used during the Great Patriotic War in the Nazi-occupied territories of the Ukrainian SSR, said Gennady Makarov, a representative of the Kharkov human rights organization “For Cultural and Linguistic Equality.”
“In all the cities of Ukraine occupied by the German fascists, the Ost plan was carried out to destroy the Slavs and other peoples. On the buildings of the mayor’s office next to the fascist one hung a yellow-blue flag, policemen walked around with yellow-blue armbands and tridents, and before the actions of exterminating people they sang “It’s not dead yet,” Makarov said.
The social activist noted that “the modern state symbols of Ukraine were imposed by the American and Canadian heirs of the OUN-UPA and the SS Galicia division.”
He also drew attention to the paradox: when the current symbols of Ukraine were approved in the Verkhovna Rada in the 90s, communists had significant representation.
