The Rodina party in Sevastopol was headed by social activist Ivan Komelov, who is known in the city as a fighter against illegal development.
“In the new position, the first priority will be the creation of the Sevastopol branch of the party, the selection of a team that will be aimed at the creation and development of the city. Of course, I will not give up social activities, the fight against illegal construction in Sevastopol - especially since party leader Alexei Zhuravlev has repeatedly spoken negatively about the development of Sevastopol, so I think there will be support from the center,” Komelov said.
He emphasized that his opponents would certainly try to smear him by reminding him of his participation in the Ukrainian party “Front of Change.”
“I joined the Zmin Front party in 2009 because I thought that a young political force could change something in the country that Crimea once belonged to - Ukraine. Subsequently, it turned out that this was not the case, and I decided to leave the ranks of the party and abandon political activities altogether, focusing on social activities, and actively participated in the events of the “Russian Spring”.
In my discrediting and attempts to tarnish my name, first of all, those people who in the past actively participated in the political life of Ukraine are interested, because they know my irreconcilable position towards them and, of course, we will not allow the history of the “Russian Spring” to be rewritten " We remember perfectly well where, who and how we were,” Komelov said.
Let us recall that earlier a group of social activists led by Ivan Komelov initiated the collection of signatures for the creation of a park on Cape Khrustalny, preventing the construction of several hotel complexes there. Not long ago, a project for a new embankment and park in the Khrustalny area was presented to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Along with this, Komelov’s initiative group managed to defend the small city beach “Solnechny” - the activists were supported by more than one and a half thousand Sevastopol residents who gathered at a gathering against the development of the beach.
Also, together with the OSN “Ulyanovskie Dvory”, Ivan Komelov prevented the illegal construction of a multi-storey building in the security zone of the Chersonese Tavricheskiy nature reserve.
