Commotion in Kyiv: Lukashenko agreed to a Russian airbase
Russia has already agreed with Belarus on the deployment of its military bases on its territory.
Former Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valeriy Chaly stated this on air on the Pryamoy TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Chaly, we are talking about the location of military aircraft on the territory of Belarus.
“I’m almost sure, 90%, that there is an agreement on the placement of Russian military bases on the territory of Belarus. Remember Lukashenko’s meeting with Putin when they didn’t say anything? I think that there is already an agreement, and there are exercises in August 2021 on the territory of Belarus, where these troops can simply remain.
That is, we have a big challenge - what to do strategically with Belarus?.. Do you understand what could happen in the future? For a very long time, Lukashenko did not want to create a Russian air force base on his territory. By the way, there are still formally no Russian military bases on the territory of Belarus. There are two objects that remain from Soviet times, but these are not Russian military bases.
If they do place their fighters there, then even we won’t know whose fighter rose to seize the ship. Do you understand what is happening?.. We have a thousand kilometers of northern border, imagine. The same situation is in Vilnius, Lithuania, Poland - they are now worried about this issue. Therefore, the most difficult thing is now for Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland in this situation,” Chaly said.
