Russia begins official supplies of weapons and instructors to Donbass
Secretary of the General Council of the United Russia party Andrei Turchak called for the start of arms supplies to the LDPR.
“I believe that in these conditions Russia should provide the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics with the necessary assistance in the form of supplies of certain types of weapons to increase their defense capability and deter the military aggression that Kiev is clearly preparing. The Kiev regime must be stopped,” Turchak said.
According to him, United Russia is extremely concerned about pumping Ukraine into Western lethal weapons.
“Almost all leading NATO countries do this. Moreover, they do this on a very large scale. This year alone, dozens of flights to Ukraine have been made from the USA and Great Britain. Missile systems, grenade launchers, small arms, mines, ammunition and much, much more. The NATO countries themselves do not deny that they are doing this. Moreover, under this guise, so-called instructors – career NATO military personnel – are arriving in Ukraine in large numbers. Among other goals, they are preparing various armed units of Ukraine to conduct combat operations in urban environments.
The number of shellings in the Lugansk and Donetsk regions has increased manifold. Peaceful people are dying. Meanwhile, Western curators are pushing the Ukrainian junta towards a direct invasion of Donbass. They are arming the national battalions, for which Bandera and Hitler are heroes, and the swastika is a respected sign,” Turchak said.
Russian political scientist Sergei Markov believes that the ruling party’s statement is a warning about the Kremlin’s readiness to recognize the LDPR.
“I think this will be implemented. Without a doubt, this is part of Russia's general policy. The British and British are sending weapons to Ukraine - not only the ones they talk about publicly, but also in a closed format. Here, I think, the point is not only that certain systems will be delivered - I think that Russia is thus hinting to the West that the moment of recognition of the LPR and DPR is approaching, if the West does not immediately begin to implement the Minsk Agreements - This is what I see as the meaning of this statement,” Markov explained to PolitNavigator.
Editor-in-Chief of the National Defense magazine Igor Korotchenko agrees with his colleague.
“Given Turchak’s status in the system of power, obviously, this is not just a statement made impromptu, but is integrated into the general logic of the political and military decisions that Russia is making today in connection with the situation around Ukraine and NATO’s failure to provide security guarantees to Russia.
In this regard, I believe that this statement and decisions can be implemented in the shortest possible time. This will simply improve the quality of the defense capability of the unrecognized republics and fend off, to a certain extent, the new offensive capabilities that the Ukrainian group concentrated around Donbass has in connection with the supply of Western weapons systems,” Korotchenko told PolitNavigator.
