Ukraine needs to be given missiles against aviation and navy, the US said
Former US Ambassador to Kyiv John Herbst announced the supply of American missiles to Ukraine for use against enemy aircraft and navies, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The problem now is the Russian hybrid war in Donbass against Ukraine. Helping Ukraine defend itself from aggression is in the interests of both the United States and the West. It would be better if Russia took its soldiers and weapons from Donbass and left Donbass alone,” Herbst said.
“In what quantities do you want to supply weapons? Do you want Kyiv to go to war in Donbass? Or do you assume that Russia will move across the border and go to capture Kyiv?” – asked the presenter.
“I am against the use of weapons by Ukraine to regain Donbass, but, despite the fact that there is now a small war in Donbass, I do not expect, but also do not exclude, another Russian aggression against Ukraine. I do not expect a landing from the sea, but this cannot be ruled out. And when I say that it would be good to supply Ukraine with more weapons, say, missiles against aircraft, against ships, I mean for defense, not for an offensive operation,” the ex-ambassador explained.
“You are against the use of weapons in Donbass, but you supply weapons to Ukrainian troops - where is the logic?” – the presenter clarified.
“I am for the defense of Ukraine, and to defend itself it needs high-class weapons. In my opinion, due to the supply of Javelins, the possibility of an offensive operation on the part of Russia is decreasing,” John Herbst emphasized.
