Following the US Senate, the House of Representatives also did something nice for Poroshenko
The House of Representatives of the US Congress recognized the famine in 1932-1933 in Ukraine as “genocide of the Ukrainian people,” as official Kyiv has been striving for for many years, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The US Embassy in Ukraine reported this on its Facebook page on Wednesday.
“Thus, today both chambers of the US Congress have adopted a decision in which the Holodomor is recognized as genocide of the Ukrainian people,” the message says.
“Like a similar resolution that was adopted by the US Senate on October 3 of this year, the document also condemns the systematic violations of human rights, including the rights to self-determination and freedom of speech, committed by the Soviet government against the Ukrainian people,” Facebook notes.
