“This is capitulation to the Russian Federation” – Parubiy finally branded Zelensky
The initiative for a referendum “on reconciliation with Russia” on the part of the team of the new President Vladimir Zelensky is a betrayal of the memory of the fallen soldiers thrown to suppress the Donbass uprising in 2014 and their ideological inspirers, the Petliurists and OUN members.
Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Andrey Parubiy said this when opening the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Today is the 140th anniversary of the birth of the chief ataman of the UPR troops and navy, Symon Petlyura, and tomorrow, May 23, Ukrainians will celebrate Heroes Day. On this day in 1938, a Bolshevik agent in Rotterdam killed OUN ideologist Yevgeny Konovalets. Neither Petliura nor Konovalets would have ever offered the Ukrainians a referendum on reconciliation with Russia. These people fought against Russia, fought for Ukraine.
I recommend that the president and his team learn well the lessons of Ukrainian history and not look for steps of capitulation to capitulate to Russia. Let me remind those who propose making peace with Russia: it was on May 22, 2014, when I was the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, that near the Ukrainian Volnovakha the Russians cruelly and cynically shot a column of the Ukrainian 51st Brigade. 18 Ukrainians died tragically then. We will not allow the lives of thousands of Ukrainians to be given in vain and let us remember with a minute of silence all those who died in the struggle for the Ukrainian state, we will not betray them,” Parubiy said.

Let us note that the current convocation of the Verkhovna Rada is in its final weeks, since President Zelensky issued a decree on early elections, which will take place on July 21.
